Turned Wood · Gilt Metal Arms · French Country Chandelier

A six-arm chandelier in the language of 1940s French Country lighting — a turned-wood central column, hand-finished in distressed ivory, drops down through six gracefully curved gilt-metal arms, each capped with a tapered ivory linen shade. The composition reads farmhouse-formal: warm carved wood at the spine, polished gilt arms at the volume, soft fabric at the light source.

The wood column is hand-distressed for the slightly worn finish typical of authentic Provençal pieces, with subtle variation in ivory tone across each turning. Suited to dining rooms, kitchens with farmhouse-tile floors, primary bedrooms, and entry foyers in French Country, English Country, transitional, and modern farmhouse interiors.

Turned Wood Column

Hand-turned wood center, finished in distressed ivory for an authentic Provençal feel.

Gilt Metal Arms

Six gently curved metal arms in a warm gilt finish — polished where light hits, deeper at the cast detail.

Tapered Linen Shades

Six ivory linen empire shades cast soft, residential glow over a dining table or kitchen island.

Hand-distressed wood & hand-finished gilt. The wood column is intentionally distressed — minor scuffs, ivory tone variation, and visible turning marks are part of the authentic French Country character, not flaws. The gilt arms are hand-finished, so subtle variation in polish depth between pieces is expected. The linen shades are factory-aligned for symmetry.

What size room does the Cavaillon suit? +

At ∅ 23.6″ × H 21.7″, it's well-scaled for dining rooms and farmhouse kitchens of 12–20 m² (130–215 ft²) seating 4–6 at a dining table or one length of an island. For larger spaces it can still work as part of a layered scheme — pair with smaller wall sconces or an additional pendant rather than scaling up.

Why does the wood look distressed? +

The distressing is intentional — the wood column is hand-finished in ivory paint and then deliberately worn at the edges and turning details to mimic decades of natural patina. This is the signature of authentic French Country and Provençal lighting from the 1940s. Minor variation in distressing pattern between pieces is expected.

Is the Cavaillon dimmable? +

Yes, with the right bulb. Each head takes an E12 (US) or E14 (EU) candelabra-base bulb. Install dimmable LED candle bulbs on a TRIAC wall dimmer and the chandelier dims smoothly. Warm white 2700K–3000K is recommended to flatter the gilt arms and ivory linen shades.

Does it work over a kitchen island? +

Yes — a single Cavaillon centers well above an island of 4–6 ft. Hang the bottom of the shades 30–36″ above the counter for proper clearance. The 6-arm spread provides ambient light across the working surface; pair with under-cabinet task lighting if you cook actively.

What bulbs does it take? +

E12 (US) or E14 (EU) candelabra-base bulbs — six total, one per arm. We recommend warm-white 2700K–3000K LED candle bulbs at 40W incandescent equivalent each for soft, residential glow that flatters the ivory linen shades. Avoid daylight (5000K+) — it cools the linen tone and clashes with the warm gilt finish.
