Clear acrylic — precision-cut polymer rods. Acrylic was chosen for its uniform optical clarity, lighter weight (safer for cable suspension), and shatter resistance compared to glass crystal. The visual effect closely matches crystal when lit.

Is the gold foil real gold, or metallic paint? +

Real gold leaf — hand-applied over the iron framework, not powder-coated metallic paint. Real leaf has a depth and lustre that paint cannot replicate, with subtle natural variation piece to piece.
